TikTok

Connect TikTok and Ashley's post lands in your TikTok inbox as a draft - photos with the caption, or a video - ready to open in the TikTok app, add a sound to, and post yourself. Two permissions, no publishing on your behalf.

Connect TikTok and Ashley, your social media agent, can write the post, generate the images, and send the whole thing to your TikTok inbox as a draft. You open it in the TikTok app, add a trending sound if you want one, check the preview, and post it yourself. Nothing is ever published to your TikTok profile by Unyo.

A draft, on purpose

TikTok is the one network where Unyo deliberately stops one step before publishing. A draft opens in TikTok's own editor, which is the only place a sound from TikTok's library can be attached - no third-party app can do that through the API. It also means Unyo never holds the permission to post on your behalf: the TikTok consent screen asks for two things, your display name and the right to send drafts. That is the whole grant.

What connecting TikTok unlocks

Sending to TikTok is Ashley's territory. No other agent can reach it.

You askYou get
"Write me a TikTok post about our new menu"An editable draft card: caption, hashtags, generated images, and a TikTok Draft toggle next to the other networks
"Make it a 5-image post"A photo post with the images in your order, sent as one draft
A video from the Reels tool or your own uploadA video draft in your inbox - you add the caption in TikTok (see below)
"Schedule it for Tuesday 9am"The draft is sent to your inbox at that time; you still post it from the app

One draft, five platforms. The same card can go to Instagram, a Facebook Page, LinkedIn and X directly, and to TikTok as a draft, all in parallel. If one network fails the others still land.

Where the draft lands

Not in Profile → Drafts. A draft sent through the API arrives in the TikTok app under Inbox → System notifications. Tap the notification and TikTok opens its editor with your media loaded: add a sound, trim, pick who can see it, then post - or save it as a regular draft from there.

The row on the card reads TikTok Draft with a small ⓘ next to it; hover it and this is what it tells you.

The TikTok specifics, honestly

  • Photos arrive complete. Up to 35 images per post. The first line of your caption becomes the TikTok title (90 characters) and the full caption with hashtags becomes the description (4 000 characters). Images are converted to the format TikTok accepts (JPEG, at most 1080p) before they're sent - you don't have to think about it.
  • A video arrives without its caption. TikTok's inbox takes the video file only. Unyo copies the caption and hashtags to your clipboard when the draft is sent and tells you so; paste them in the TikTok editor.
  • Five drafts in flight. TikTok accepts at most 5 unfinished inbox drafts per account per 24 hours. Finish or discard them in the app and the quota frees up.
  • No watermark, ever. TikTok's rules forbid third-party marks on creator content, so Unyo never stamps anything on media sent to TikTok, on any plan.
  • No analytics. Unyo doesn't request TikTok's statistics permission, so there are no TikTok numbers in Social analytics. We'd rather hold fewer permissions than show you a chart.

Ashley draws the brief. Tyron paints.

Ashley cannot call the image tools directly - that's Tyron's toolbox, and it's blocked for her at the runtime level, not just in her prompt. She writes the visual brief and the image is generated for her. You just see one finished card.

Connect TikTok

  1. Open Integrations from the sidebar. (It's its own page - not inside Settings.)
  2. Find TikTok under the Social filter and click Connect.
  3. Sign in to TikTok and authorise Unyo. The permission list has two entries - read them.
  4. You land back on Integrations with your TikTok display name and avatar on the card. That's how you know which account your drafts will go to.

If Ashley needs TikTok mid-conversation and you haven't connected it, you get a Connect link that takes you straight into the flow and lands you back in the same conversation afterwards.

Permissions - what we ask for, and what we refuse

ScopeWhat it lets Unyo do, in plain English
user.info.basicRead your display name and avatar, so the card can show you which account you're about to send to.
video.uploadSend a video or a photo post to your TikTok inbox as a draft.

Deliberately not requested:

ScopeWhy we refuse it
video.publishPublishing straight to your profile on your behalf. The draft is the better product, and you keep the last word.
user.info.profile, user.info.statsYour bio, follower counts, likes. We don't need them to send a draft.
video.listYour existing videos. Not ours to read.

That's the whole grant. Two scopes to put a finished draft in your inbox.

What Unyo does with your data

  • Your access token is encrypted at rest, like every other OAuth token on the platform - AES-256 through database functions, never stored or read as a plain column. TikTok rotates the long-lived token on every refresh, and the rotated token is written back encrypted.
  • The token is never logged, never put in a queue payload, never returned inside an error message. It's resolved for the length of one outbound call to TikTok and then gone.
  • Your media goes TikTok's way. TikTok pulls the file from a domain we verified with them. Images you upload yourself are served from Unyo's own storage; a file hosted elsewhere is copied into your own storage space first (100 MB cap) because TikTok won't fetch it from a third party.
  • No training. Every model Unyo uses runs under a no-training guarantee. Your captions and images are used to do the job you asked for, and nothing else.
  • Nothing about your TikTok account is sent to an AI provider. The connection carries a display name and an avatar; neither is part of any prompt.

Posting is always yours - doubly so here

There is no autonomous posting in Unyo, and on TikTok there isn't even the permission for it. When Ashley runs unattended - inside an automation - she prepares the draft and stops. Scheduling a TikTok post means the draft is delivered to your inbox at that time; it still waits for you in the TikTok app.

FAQ

Why can't Unyo just publish to TikTok like it does on Instagram?

It could ask for that permission; we chose not to. A draft lands in TikTok's own editor, where you can attach a sound from TikTok's library - something no outside app is allowed to do - and pick the audience yourself. Fewer permissions for you to grant, and the final tap stays in your hands. If you want a post live at a given time, schedule the draft and post it when it arrives.

I can't find the draft in my TikTok drafts.

Look in Inbox → System notifications, not in your profile's drafts folder. Drafts sent through the API arrive as a notification; tapping it opens the editor. Once you save from the editor, it becomes a regular draft.

My video arrived without the caption.

That's TikTok, not a bug: the inbox accepts the video file only. Unyo copied the caption and hashtags to your clipboard when it sent the draft - paste them into the editor. Photo posts carry their caption with them.

How many images can a TikTok post have?

Thirty-five. The Unyo editor caps the card at 10 images because the same draft usually goes to Instagram too, so a TikTok photo post sent from the card has up to 10.

Can I see how my TikTok posts performed?

Not in Unyo. We didn't request TikTok's statistics permission, so there are no TikTok numbers in Social analytics. Your TikTok app has them.

Does connecting TikTok give any other agent access to it?

No. Each of the 10 agents has a toolbox enforced at runtime, not merely suggested in a prompt. Only Ashley can send to TikTok, and only Maya can touch your inbox. The boundary is access control, not etiquette.

Disconnecting and revoking

Open Integrations, find the TikTok card, and click Disconnect. Unyo revokes its own token at TikTok and deletes the stored connection immediately - no draft can be sent as you after that. TikTok is one of the providers where we can do the revocation for you.

To double-check at TikTok itself: TikTok app → Settings and privacy → Security & permissions → Apps and services, and remove Unyo there if it still appears.

If you delete your Unyo account entirely, the deletion flow revokes the TikTok grant along with every other provider that offers an API for it, takes any published sites offline, and purges roughly 80 tables atomically - and it completes even if a provider is unreachable.

Troubleshooting

The card says "Reconnect required" / a send failed with a token error. TikTok's long-lived token lasts a year and is replaced on each refresh; if it was revoked on TikTok's side, or the refresh raced, the connection is marked for reconnection. Disconnect and reconnect from Integrations - about 15 seconds, and your draft is still on the card.

"Too many pending drafts." TikTok allows 5 unfinished inbox drafts per account per 24 hours. Open the TikTok app, post or discard the waiting ones, then send again.

The video was refused for size. Media must come from Unyo's own storage. A video hosted elsewhere is copied over first, with a 100 MB ceiling; upload the file into Unyo instead and the ceiling doesn't apply.

The wrong account. The TikTok card shows the connected display name and avatar. If it isn't the account you meant, disconnect, then reconnect while signed into the right one.

The draft is in my inbox but there's no notification badge. Pull to refresh in Inbox → System notifications. TikTok sometimes delivers the entry a minute after Unyo reports success.
